There is something magical about slot canyons. The sheer scale and beauty are awe-inspiring. They are also so much fun to explore, even for our kids that generally grumble when we announce that we’re going on a hike. What we loved about visiting Jenny’s Canyon is that it is so easily accessible and absolutely stunning!

How to get to Jenny’s Canyon
Jenny’s Canyon is located within Snow Canyon State Park about 20 minutes north of St George, Utah.
To get there, you’ll head north on Bluff Street from St George. Take the Red Hills Pkwy/Snow Canyon Pkwy exit and turn left onto Snow Canyon Parkway.
Continue for 3.2 miles until you come to a roundabout. Proceed through the circle to stay on Snow Canyon Parkway and continue traveling for 0.7 miles.
You’ll come to a second roundabout where you’ll take the first exit onto Snow Canyon Drive that leads to the park entrance.
Jenny’s Canyon trailhead will be on your right about .6 miles after passing through the south entry station.
Keep your eye out for a parking lot and sign just off the road, we passed it our first time coming through.

Hiking Jenny’s Canyon Trail
From the parking lot, you’ll see a sand trail lined with rocks leading through the sagebrush.
It is an easy and short .2 mile walk to the mouth of Jenny’s canyon. We love a hike that is easy for kids and packs a big punch, this definitely fits the bill!
The slot canyon itself isn’t too deep, but there are plenty of crevices and caves to explore.
My kids had so much fun scaling the walls to see who could climb the highest and staking their claim on their own cave-dwelling.
We spent a good hour just letting them explore and get lost in their imaginations.

There were so many cool features of erosion, I was fascinated with the honeycomb-like texture on some of the walls.
We visited in the summer when the temperatures were flirting with 100 degrees. It was hot walking through the dry wash to reach the canyon, thankfully it was short, but the shaded canyon stays nice and cool.
Just before you get to the canyon, the trail splits. Continue to the left to reach the slot canyon or head to the right where you’ll find the overlook trail.
You’ll need to scramble up some rocks to reach the overlook where you can take in the view all the way out to the Snow Canyon Sand Dunes.
We decided not to do this portion of the trail due to the heat, but would love to go back next time!
